Our journey started all the way back in 2017 as a Stoner Doom band called Dopecorpse. We released our first EP titled Ironshroom in July 2019 and went on to play live around the midwest until 2020.
We took a hiatus in early 2020 due to the Covid-19 virus and returned in summer 2021 with new drummer Mason Weber. After writing some new material as well as welcoming back second guitarist Matt Williams our sounds started to change. The once groove inspired stoner doom riffs were replaced by heavier drawn-out riffs, loud feedback, shoegaze inspired soundscapes and shrieking black metal inspired vocals. It was this new material that influenced us to change our name to match our newfound sound. Thus, Weaving Shadows was born.
